Country singer has epic response to ‘God Hates Fags’ church protest
Country music singer Blake Shelton had a fantastic response after finding out the Westboro Baptist Church planned to protest his concert.
The Boys Round Here singer, who is reportedly engaged to his ‘The Voice’ colleague Gwen Stefani, is playing the Sprint Center in Missouri tomorrow night.
Notorious hate group the Westboro Baptist Church has announced plans to protest, tweeting: “We’ll be picketing @blakeshelton this Friday @ Sprint!”
The group released a parody of the singer’s hit song, with the lyrics: “The boys round here think it’s okay to be queer, getting divorced, remarrying sluts, drinking sweet T-and-JD and chasing their lust.”
The song attacks Shelton’s divorce from his ex-wife, ranting about “whores” and “fags”.
However, he had an epic comeback when he found out about the planned protest.
The singer tweeted at the church: “Great!!!! Lots of my crew guys will be happy to see your wives.. Again.”
It’s not the first time the group have picked a fight with Shelton and lost.
Ahead of a protest in 2013, he tweeted: “Y’all may want to keep an eye on ur women at my show.. I’ve got a few band and crew guys that’ll be smacking that holy ass!”
It certainly makes a change from the group’s recent hobby of in-fighting with other homophobes.
You’d think the hate group and Kentucky clerk Kim Davis this week might have a cause in common, given she was jailed for contempt of court after flouting orders to issue same-sex marriage licenses.
But the WBC claim that Davis is a hypocrite – attacking her marital history by claiming she herself is “living in sin.”
Protesting outside her office, the hate group took issue with the clerk’s multiple marriages and failure to obey the law.
Referring to her jailing, they tweeted: “Judge jails Kentucky clerk Kim Davis for refusing to issue fag marriage licenses. Good; she’s an oath breaker!
“Kim Davis wouldn’t like it at Westboro Baptist Church: we obey man’s law as well as God’s.
“Proud adulterers who divorce/remarry and refuse to call it a sin are no more a WBC member than a proud fag.”
They even started correcting the many people comparing Davis to them, writing: “KY clerk Kim Davis would NOT feel at home at Westboro Baptist. She a fake (hence her 3 husbands!)”
The Church’s other recent target? The Pope.
No, seriously. Westboro bragged to PinkNews about their plans to protest the Pope “in three cities” on his trip to the US.
We’re quaking in our boots…
