Watch: Hillary Clinton meets with Republican Caitlyn Jenner for reality show
A trailer for Caitlyn Jenner’s reality show shows her meeting with Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton.
Jenner has said previously that she remains a conservative Republican despite coming out as trans – even though many leading Republicans have actively fought against trans rights.
Speaking previously, Jenner claimed: “I have gotten more flak for being a conservative Republican than I have for being trans… just because you change gender doesn’t mean you change your core beliefs.”
Given her staunch Republicanism, it’s surprising to see a special guest in the trailer for the upcoming season of E! series I Am Cait – Democratic Presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.
In the trailer, Jenner says: “I’m slowly coming into my womanhood… but it’s a work in progress.”
It shows her dealing with clashes with other trans people, getting branded a “disgrace to trans people” by protesters, as well as meeting with the former Secretary of State.
Clinton warmly greets the reality star in the clip, saying: “Oh my god!” and shaking her hand.
However, the meet-and-greet apparently did not change Jenner’s political allegiances.
The star received a barrage of criticism after she revealed she still plans to vote for a Republican Presidential candidate.
Speaking after attending a Democratic Presidential debate, she said: “They didn’t convince me.”
Presumed Republican nominee Donald Trump continues to refer to Jenner by her former name and gender, while Republicans nationally have rallied against LGBT rights laws by claiming it lets ‘men’ in women’s bathrooms.
Bette Midler threw shade previously, tweeting: “People, #CaitlynJenner says she is STILL voting GOP in 2016,
“Regardless of gender identity, I guess she identifies most as ‘uninformed’.”
