Ben Carson sees ‘no path forward’, ends presidential campaign, kind of

Ben Carson appears to have ended his campaign to become US President.
The retired neurosurgeon, who has made a string of anti-LGBT comments, made the announcement in a statement on his website this evening.
Carson, who has previously said LGBT people caused the fall of Rome, started by saying he was not attending the Fox News debate in his hometown of Detroit.
Despite saying he remains “deeply committed” to America, he wrote: “I do not see a political path forward in light of last evening’s Super Tuesday primary results.”
Reality TV star, Donald Trump edged even closer to the presidential nomination securing seven states in Super Tuesday.
He continued: “Along with millions of patriots who have supported my campaign for President, I remain committed to Saving America for Future Generations. We must not depart from our goals to restore what God and our Founders intended for this exceptional nation.”
The slightly cryptic statement went on to say he would make a statement on Friday about “the future of this movement”.
Carson has made a stunning number of homophobic and transphobic statements as he has campaigned for the Republican presidential nomination, including saying that transgender people in the millitary would be a “distraction” and a “social experiment” that the millitary did not need.
He has also stated that he would consider reintroducing don’t ask don’t tell and that he thinks that LGBT people caused the fall of Rome.
Carson has repeatedly been forced to apologise when caught making overtly homophobic comments – apologising after he was caught comparing gay people to paedophiles, and again apologising after he was caught claiming that prisons ‘prove’ being gay is a choice.
His repeated humiliations have not dissuaded him, however – just last year he compared gay couples to conjoined twins.
