ZARA unveils gender-neutral basics collection
ZARA has become the latest clothing brand to unveil a gender-neutral line.
The Spanish retail giant added the new collection to its inventory this week.
The basics range, which includes jeans, sweatpants and hoodies, contains 16 items.
Constructed from cotton and cotton blends, the neutral coloured and styled clothing also includes bermuda shorts the range is also affordable.
On unveiling the line, ZARA also showed that no garment will cost more than $50.
In photos showcasing the line, each item is shown on both a male and a female model.
The parent company for ZARA, Inditex, has in the past introduced a gender-neutral line.
Pull&Bear, which is also owned by Inditex, has previously shown collections which include gender-neutral pieces.
Some brands and stores, including Selfridges have already adopted or commissioned gender neutral collections.
Selfridges debuted this amazing gender-neutral campaign in March last year.
In August 2015, a boss for French fashion house Hervé Leger was sacked after he claimed that his dresses shouldn’t be worn by “voluptuous” women or lesbians.
Retailers in other sectors have also unveiled gender-neutral lines.
Target last year announced that it would do away with gendering its toys.
