Lloyds Bank features same-sex proposal in new TV ad
A new advert for Lloyd Bank features a same-sex couple’s proposal.
The prominent new ad campaign, which was first aired by the banking giant on Friday, is titled ‘For Your Next Step’.
It features people frozen in various stages of life – including a new mother, a man dropping his daughter off at school, and an elderly woman attending a funeral – as a horse representing the bank rides past.
The clip also prominently features a same-sex couple in the midst of a proposal, in the middle of a crowded street – who are also shown embracing towards the end.
Lloyds – which was named as the top bank in the Stonewall Index and the top LGBT employer in Scotland and Wales earlier this year – intends to go big with the new campaign, with ads also set to go out across cinemas, print ads and outdoor billboards.
One such still ad features the same-sex couple with the words: “He said yes”.
Lloyds marketing director Catherine Kehoe explained: “The new campaign builds on the phenomenal success of the 250th anniversary campaign, showing how we’ll always be by our customers’ side, giving them the financial confidence to take their next step.
“We’ve adopted a contemporary and distinctive approach, focusing on the diverse and sometimes challenging moments in the lives of our customers today.”
Lloyds Banking Group – proud sponsors of last year’s PinkNews Awards – has a strong history of supporting LGBT rights.
In recent years, many businesses have produced pro-LGBT ad campaigns – but such ads are not always put into heavy circulation, often resorting to attracting attention online.
