Jim Parsons says being honest about his sexuality was ‘only logical’
The actor says he could never have lied about his long term partner.
The Big Bang Theoryās Jim Parsons has said not hiding his sexuality when he became famous the āonly logicalā option he had.
The actor says he never felt brave for being openly gay while growing up in Texas.
āHouston is a metropolis, I never had the feeling not to have the right to my life,ā he said of his hometown during an interview with Migros Magazin.
Although Parsons admits that there were some people who didnāt approve, the popular actor said they did nothing to deter him.
āI also donāt think Iām particularly brave to be the way I am,ā he explained.
āBecause I stand on the shoulders of those who came before me and paved this way.ā
He went on to say that hiding his sexuality ā or his partner, art director Todd Spiewak ā was never a question, even when The Big Bang Theory saw the actor achieve global stardom.
āThere was no going back, luckily. I took Todd along to the first award shows, as my date, and what happened?,ā Parsons said.
āAbsolutely nothing. And afterwards, nobody ever asked me: āAre you gay?’ā
The star, who plays Sheldon on the long-running comedy series, has since become one of the most powerful actors in Hollywood.
Last year, Forbes reported that his pay is now so high that he earns more than any other actor in television.
His reported $29 million earnings surged after the cast signed a new deal to continue making the show ā surpassing 2014ās list-topper Ashton Kutcher.
