Little Mix star tells homophobic fan to ‘Sashay Away’ after sharing love for RuPaul
Jade Thirlwall shared her love for Mamma Ru on Instagram earlier this week.
Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall was forced to silence at a homophobic fan after she shared a photo of superstar drag queen RuPaul and captioned it “goals. #WCW #ButchQueen”.
#WCW stands for Woman Crush Wednesday and Butch Queen is the title of RuPaul’s latest album, available on iTunes.
However, a fan of the Black Magic singer didn’t approve of the 23-year-old’s choice.
“I don’t [know whether] it’s a boy or a girl but jade how can you support these kind of things?” the fan wrote.
“That’s stupid. Not normal at all :).”
The singer was quick to hit back at the comment, in a style that surely would make her icon proud.
“How can I support other beautiful people? Quite easily actually,” Thirlwall replied.
“If you don’t ‘support’ these kind of ‘things’ (assuming you mean drag queens or the gay community) then I suggest you go and comment on somebody else’s Instagram.
“Someone just as homophobic, ignorant and as warped as yourself.”
And – in a final crushing blow – she finished with RuPaul’s famous catchphrase: “Sashay. Away.”
The world famous artist recently attempted to explain the difference between drag queens and trans people after being quizzed about the topic during an interview.
Speaking on The Real, RuPaul said: “Drag is really making fun of identity. We are shapeshifters. We’re like ‘okay, today I’m this, now I’m a cowboy, now I’m this’.
“Transgender people take identity very seriously – their identity is who they are.
“I come from the school of I will do whatever I want to do, at any time, and change – whatever!”
