Katie Hopkins to host LBC radio show
The controversial columnist is sure to spark further outrage during her new Sunday slot.
Controversial reality star Katie Hopkins is to present her own show on national talk radio station LBC not long after receiving brain surgery.
Hopkins appeared as a guest presenter on the station a year ago, where she was attacked by listeners over a Sun column in which she compared migrants to ācockroachesā.
One caller told Hopkins she was āselling a completely false rhetoric to the nationā which was ādisappointing and dangerous, really upsettingā.
Despite the punditās gift for causing a stir seems, her stint seems to have impressed station bosses, who have recruited Hopkins to fill the Sunday morning slot between 10am and midday.
The broadcaster ā which airs on FM in London and digitally across the country ā promised she would bring āstraight talking and honest commentary to the weekend scheduleā.
Hopkinsās TV show was axed by the TLC channel last year.
āIf Katie Hopkins Ruled The Worldā, attracted just 69,000 viewers for its first episode.
In one episode she referred to an audience member as a āraging angry fat person in a pink dressā, and telling columnist Liz Jones she looked āa bit weirdā.
She also had her self styled āgay iconā status revoked after claiming that ā100%ā of British Muslims want homosexuality banned.
However, she does have one fan ā the equally controversial Presidential wannabe Donald Trump.
Last year, Trump said of Hopkins: āThe politicians of the UK should watch Katie Hopkins ā¦ many people in the UK agree with me.ā
In other changes to the station, Mail columnist Andrew Pierce ā who is gay but a fierce critic of equal marriage ā moves to Friday evenings, Times Literary Supplement editor Stig Abell moves from Sunday breakfast to Sunday afternoons and Beverley Turner takes the Saturday evening slot.
Petrie Hosken and Olly Mann are both leaving the station.
James Rea, managing editor of LBC, said: āLBC leads the way in opinionated, intelligent radio in Britain. With their incisive opinions and wealth of life experience, Iām excited to welcome Katie Hopkins and Andrew Castle to the LBC team.ā
