Stephen Fry named as the nation’s ‘dream’ coffee date
Stephen Fry has been named as the celebrity that most people want to have a coffee with.
Two thousand Brits were polled on their dream coffee date in a survey carried out for UK Coffee Week – and the former QI host came out top.
The idea of a conversation with Mr Fry has clearly won over the British Public – with 24 percent saying they would like to share a hot beverage with the esteemed actor, comedian and TV host.
Meanwhile, nature presenter David Attenborough took second place (23 per cent), followed by Professor Brian Cox (17 per cent).
Dame Judi Dench (15 per cent) edged out J.K. Rowling and Dawn French as the top female icons Brits would most like to have a coffee with.
The week aims to support development in countries with poor sanitation and access to water.
Fry said: “You can’t make coffee without fresh water – but more importantly we can’t live healthy lives without fresh water either.
“It is our most precious resource, so I am very proud to be a part of any initiative which extols the virtues of coffee with friends while helping provide fresh water for those who most need it.”

In a viral clip, he had told Irish broadcaster RTE that if God existed, he would be “evil”, “stupid” and “a maniac”, for creating a world that is “so full of injustice and pain”.
A panel including the Bishop of Leeds shortlisted Fry for an award over the “thought-provoking” discussion – and invited him to Lambeth Palace, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s official residence.
