This project hopes to bring all sorts of queer superheroes to the big screen
A new project hopes to bring a number of LGBT superheroes to film.
The crowdfunded project by Catticus, wants to bring the ‘No Straight Lines’ compilation of comics to the big screen.
The comic book, published in 2013, is a showcase on big names in the comic world like Alison Bechdel, Howard Cruse and Ralf Koenig.
The synopsis reads: “The insular nature of the world of queer comics created an underground art scene that allowed for unfiltered commentary on everything from coming out, to the AIDS crisis, to the search for love, sex, and camaraderie.”
Others included in the showcase are David Wojnarowicz and Dan Savage.
The idea behind No Straight Lines is to bring queer characters to mainstream comic conventions and shops.
The idea is to bring the influence of underground comics, gay erotic art and punk zines to
It also includes “the biting commentaries of drag queens, bull dykes, and other marginalised queers. They have analysed their own communities, and their relationship with the broader society. They are smart, funny, and profound.
“No Straight Lines has been heralded by people interested in comics history, and people invested in LGBT culture will embrace it as a unique and invaluable collection.”
