James Franco making ‘lesbian vampire movie’
The film will focus on a dangerous relationship between a teenager and her vampire lover.
James Franco recently wrapped production on a new film centred around a lesbian vampire story.
The story will be based on classic nineties TV movie, Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?
The last time lesbian vampires hit the screen was in James Corden’s ‘Lesbian Vampire Killers’ – which was voted the biggest flop of 2009.
The comedy-horror film by Gavin and Stacey stars Corden and Matthew Horne, was almost universally panned for its lads mag humour and “moronic” script.
Lifetime are describing the new film as a “vampire love story that brings a whole new meaning to ‘sleeping with danger.’”
The original film’s star, Tori Spelling, will also star in the remake – except this time, she’ll play the mother, not the daughter.
Leila George will play her teenage child, who introduces her parent to new love interest Pearl (Emily Meade).
Although her daughter seems happy, Spelling’s character “can’t shake the feeling that something is very wrong.”
Franco recently revealed what fuels his “obsession” with telling LGBT stories on screen – specifically that of gay men.
During an interview with Rolling Stone magazine the actor opened up about his “artistic preoccupation” with homosexuality and gay men in general.
The actor announced last year that he is currently working on porn drama film King Cobra– which will be based on the murder of Cobra Videos filmmaker Bryan Kocis in 2007.
He also starred in biopic ‘I am Michael’, which tells the controversial true story of gay activist Michael Glatze, who rejected his homosexuality and became a Christian pastor.
Last year, the actor, director-turned-poet released a book titled ‘Straight James / Gay James’.
NBC film Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? will air on the US channel Lifetime on June 18.
