Chris Hemsworth describes the moment his daughter asked to be a boy
The Thor star said his daughter asked him a series of questions about her brothers’ anatomy.
Actor Chris Hemsworth has described the moment his little girl asked to be “one of her brothers”.
The Australian actor – who recently donned drag for an SNL sketch – is father to three-year-old daughter India and two-year-old twin sons Sasha and Tristan.
The actor was chatting about the joys of parenthood with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, before revealing that some moments are harder to handle than others when it comes to raising a family.
“My daughter is kind of envious of the boys at the moment,” he explained.
“She came to me the other day and she was like, ‘Ya know, Papa, I want one of those things Sasha and Tristan have.’
“I’m like, ‘What do you mean?’ She was like, ‘Ya know, the things in between the legs that you have.’
“I was like ‘Oh, um, well you see… Girls…’ and then my brain’s like, ‘how do we handle this?!’”
Hemsworth then found himself explaining to his daughter that “girls have breasts”, to which she responded by saying she didn’t want them.
When he finally told his daughter what a penis was, he says his daughter quickly understood the difference – although did not seem dissuaded.
“I was like, ‘She’s four. You know what, you can be whatever you want to be,’” he smiled.
“And she goes, ‘Thanks Dad!’ Runs off to the playground and that was it.”
However, the Avengers star promised to “pick up that conversation in a few years’ time.”
Fellow A-listers Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have previously discussed allowing their child John to self-identify.
The family have been praised for their handling of the situation, and have been held up as a good example of how to handle a child’s exploration of their gender identity.
