Gay couple receive hateful RSVP for wedding promising to ‘ruin’ their big day
A gay couple were told their wedding would be ‘ruined’ in a hate-filled RSVP from one of their guests.
Chad and Keith, from Ohio, sent out a number of invitations for their May wedding, eagerly awaiting the responses from their nearest and dearest.
However, among the messages of support, excitement and love, the couple also received an angry, homophobic letter from an invitee, who threatened to turn the day into an “anti-gay show”.
In the letter, the pair were told they had “sent an invitation to the wrong people” and were going to “get what you deserve”.
“You thought we supported you as a couple, well boys you were so wrong!” it read.
“Your invitations were forwarded to an anti-gay group in Canton-Akron area, they will be attending your wedding.
“Protesters will be there.
“This day is going to be ruined for you.”
Luckily, the happy couple say they are not going to allow the letter to discourage them – in fact, the pair say that they are more determined than ever to go through with the big day.
Speaking to Fox 8 Live, the pair – who have been together for nine years – said the thought of cancelling the big day “never even crossed their minds.”
“I never even thought about cancelling and quite frankly, other than our initial shock of the letter this made us both want to do it more,” said Keith.
The couple – who have kindly designed handmade presents for those attending – added that they have been supported by their local community, with one church even announcing a “card shower” for the pair.
The ceremony itself will be held on private property, so even if the anonymous homophobes do try to crash the big day, they’ll be denied access.
