Brent Corrigan accuses Hollywood of ‘bastardising’ his life
The star has attacked King Cobra, which is based on his early years in adult film.
James Franco’s new porn drama received critical acclaim when it premiered at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival – but not everybody is happy with the film.
King Cobra is based on the real life murder of gay porn baron Bryan Kocis – the boss of Cobra Videos who died in 2007.
Disney star Garrett Clayton plays Brent Corrigan – real name Sean Paul Lockhart – a famed porn star for the company who starred in a number of high-profile adult films.
However, the real Corrigan/Lockhart has lashed out once again at the production, accusing Hollywood of “bastardising my early years in porn”.
“Its not about me,” he wrote on Twitter.
“These filmmakers didn’t care about anyone but their take on it all (and not getting sued).”
Corrigan said he would set the record straight in his upcoming book Incorrigible.
“It doesn’t matter what A list celebrity is involved. The screenplay & content didn’t jive. I passed it up,” he added.
This isn’t the first time the actor has criticised the film.
Before its release, Lockhart revealed that although he had been approached to star in the film, but didn’t want to take “part in someone else’s presentation of events.”
“Even with the time that has passed, the memories are still very real and raw for me.”
“I look forward to finally telling my story, beginning middle and end, with an earnest stroke. Thanks for being so patient, everyone!”
Justin Kelly, who directs the film, said the creative team wanted the scenes not to “shock”, but to be “unapologetic”.
“We wanted to make it as unapologetic as possible,” Kelly said in an interview with The Wrap.
“I didn’t have a desire to shock — it’s a part of the story. Myself and the actors discussed from day one that you can’t shy away.”
