WATCH: Ellie Goulding halts concert to allow gay couple to get engaged
The singer welcomed the men onstage to celebrate their special moment.
During a recent gig, one gay couple asked if could use Goulding’s performance to celebrate a very special moment in their lives.
One half of the couple asked the star if he could ask his partner a very important question on stage.
The singer happily stopped the show to allow them to climb onstage and have their moment in the spotlight.
Thousands of people cheered and applauded the happy couple, with Goulding jumping in and hugging the two newly-engaged men.
Goulding has a long history of supporting LGBT rights.
Back in 2014, the singer said she won’t perform in Russia any time soon, due to the country’s poor gay rights record and homophobic legislation.
When asked by the Hollywood Reporter whether she would perform in the country, she said: “It’s probably a ‘no’ for Russia.”
She had previously spoken out against the imprisonment of pro-gay Russian band Pussy Riot, who were initially jailed in 2012 after an anti-Putin protest, tweeting that their sentence was “insanity”.
