Ted Cruz responds to Caitlyn Jenner’s video
Ted Cruz has hit back at a video from Caitlyn Jenner that said no one was molested in a women’s bathroom that she used.
Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, the Texas Senator said “this is not a matter of right or left, or Democrat or Republican. This is common sense. It doesn’t make sense for grown adult men, strangers, to be alone in a restroom with a little girl.”
Responding directly to Caitlyn, he added: “Frankly, the concern is not of the Caitlyn Jenners of the world, but if the law is such that any man, if he feels like it, can go in a woman’s restroom and you can’t ask him to leave, that opens the door for predators.”
“I’ve spent a lot of years in law enforcement dealing with child predators that are sick individuals,” added Cruz.
“That doesn’t mean that that is the people who are transgendered. But there are predators in the world, and just saying that you’re a man, you can go in the girls’ restroom if you feel like it, opens the door for criminals.”
On Wednesday, Caitlyn Jenner posted a video of her taking Donald Trump’s words of support that she could use any bathroom she wants in Trump Tower.
Republican lawmakers across the US are currently pushing a wave of so-called ‘bathroom bills’ aimed at voiding LGBT anti-discrimination protections – which also ‘ban’ trans women from using female bathrooms.
Republican Presidential hopeful Ted Cruz has repeatedly claimed that trans people would molest his daughters, but Donald Trump surprised commentators by affirming that “people use the bathroom they feel is appropriate” during a Q&A.
Asked if he would be fine with Caitlyn Jenner using her preferred bathroom at Trump Tower, he replied: “That is correct”.
Posting a video on Facebook outside Trump Tower, she says: “A trans woman in New York, I gotta take a pee.”
‘Noticing’ the building in front of her, she adds: “Oh my God, Trump International Tower, I love this… last week Donald Trump said I could take a pee anywhere in the Trump facility, so I am going to go take a pee in the ladies’ room.”
Jenner heads in and asks for directions to the women’s toilets and casually goes to pee.
Coming out of the women’s room, she adds: “Thank you, Donald, really appreciate it. And by the way, Ted [Cruz], nobody got molested.”
Caitlyn Jenner was previously a fan of Cruz – but experienced a turnaround while filming reality show I Am Cait.
PinkNews featured in the season finale of ‘I am Cait’, as friends of the former Olympian tried to convince her to think again about LGBT rights.
Celebrity choreographer Candis Cayne read an article about Cruz’s claims that trans people will molest his daughters.
Responding to the story, Caitlyn’s friends try to get her to use her voice as a trans “leader” to condemn candidates, like Cruz, and stand up for the community.
