Justin Trudeau announces further equality and protection for Canada’s trans community

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced groundbreaking new federal legislation that will guarantee full protection to the human rights of trans people across Canada, AP reports.
Trudeau is known for his outspoken support on LGBT issues, having a gender-equal Cabinet and for his immense core strength.
Now, the popular leader is set to improve things even further for his country’s trans community, after announcing his plans to increase their rights legally.
The new legislation will to be tabled today in the Canadian House of Commons today to mark the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia.
Trudeau announced the change as he accepted the Laurent McCutcheon Award in Montreal, Quebec for his continued support of LGBT Canadians.
“We must continue to demand true equality,” Trudeau said.
“We must carry on the legacy of those who fought for justice by being bold and ambitious in our actions, and we must work diligently to close the gap between our principles and reality.”
His liberal approach to politics has secured a strong following – with some neighbouring Americans even recently begging for him to become their next leader recently, in place of presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.
Trudeau has put equality at the heart of his leadership: championing LGBT rights and feminism, appointing a diverse, expert-led gender-balanced cabinet, speaking out against homophobia, and making history by marching at Pride.
