This cis woman experienced transphobia in a Target bathroom and she was shaken to the core (VIDEO)

A cisgender woman who was mistaken for being trans in a Target restroom said she “cannot fathom” what it means to face transphobic discrimination daily.
Aimee Toms, 22, posted a video to her Facebook page describing an incident during which she was called “disgusting” and ordered out of the Target toilets.
The awful incident took place in Danbury, Connecticut.
Toms says the woman came up behind her and told her: “You are not supposed to be here! You need to leave!”
Toms said she believes she was mistaken for transgender because she has short hair and was wearing a baseball cap.
“I can get why at first glance she would mistake me for somebody who’s transgender,” she added, but said she cannot understand how anyone could endure transphobic discrimination day to day.
“After experiencing the discrimination they face firsthand, I cannot fathom the discrimination transgender people must face in a lifetime,” Toms continues in the video.
“Can you imagine going out every day and having people tell you you should not be who you are or that people will not accept you as who you are?”
Target introduced an inclusive restroom and changing room policy earlier this year, which allowed trans people to use the facilities of the gender they identified with.
Since then, it has faced a barrage of abuse and has been threatened with a boycott backed by 1.2 million people.
But last week the brand stood strong, as the CEO said he knew the company had done the right thing by introducing the inclusive bathroom policy.
A fake customer service account, pretending to be Target, has been putting transphobic people in their place.
After Target announced its discontinuation of separating toys based on gender, many took to its Facebook page to complain and hilarity ensued when they were trolled by this ‘customer service’ account..
A mother of 12 this week marched through a branch of the store with her family telling customers “the devil will rape their children” because of the chain’s trans inclusive bathroom policy.Check out the video below:
