ā€œThis is such an amazing feeling,ā€ Peta Murgatroyd, his partner, said. ā€œI owe everything to [DiMarco].ā€

The pairā€™s final dance was followed by an emotional exchange with judge Carrie Ann Inaba interacted with the model in sign language.

ā€œThat was a beautiful way to end the season,ā€ she said.

ā€œBut Nyle, I just want to say something to you. because youā€™ve spoken to us so eloquently in our language of dance, I want to say this to you and I hope I get it right.ā€

She then stood up and said, ā€˜Thank you for sharing whatā€™s in your heartā€™ in sign language ā€“ leaving DiMarco in tears.

After being announced the winner, DiMarco ā€“ who also featured in the showā€™s first same sex dance routine ā€“ took to social media to celebrate.

ā€œI canā€™t believe it! We won the mirror ball!ā€ he wrote.

He added that his win was dedicated to the ā€œ70 million deaf people in the worldā€.

DiMarco also opened up about his relationship with his pro-dancer partner.

ā€œThe first week we worked together, she was already starting to learn my language and my culture,ā€ he said.

ā€œShe was very curious. She did the right thing right out of the chute.ā€
