Guy ranted against Target’s trans bathroom policy online while his sister was chained up for a year
A man ranted about Target’s trans-inclusive bathroom policy online whilst imprisoning his step-sister in a basement, police have said.
Esten Ciboro and his father Timothy Ciboro were arrested after the girl escaped from her bathroom dungeon and was found by a neighbour carrying several bags.
The unnamed 13-year-old girl had been imprisoned in the basement for over a year in punishment for wetting her bed.
She had lived with her father Timothy since her mother dropped she and her two siblings off and left for Las Vegas.
Esten on 10 May, before the girl escaped, had gone on a vile rant about Target’s trans-inclusive bathroom policy.
The 27-year-old wrote: “For those unaware: Target will be allowing men in the girls’ restrooms of its stores and will also allow women in the boys’ restrooms of its stores- all to support queerism and confusion.”
He also voiced strong support for Donald Trump for the US Presidency.
Timothy and Esten were arrested and charged with kidnapping and child endangerment.
Speaking from prison, the 53-year-old father had said he missed his children, including the girl, but that the other two children were happy to cook and clean, when she would not.
“She just didn’t want to do things with us, she just didn’t,” he said. “I don’t know why, I can’t answer that. I love her and I loved her for her. I didn’t think anything less.”
“I miss my babies with all my heart,” Timothy went on. “I want them to do right, that’s the way they were raised. If they have any questions, all they have to do is open the Bible and they will have all the answers.”
The pair had shared concerns about Satan and the occult as the son shared posts on Facebook about imagery on Monster energy drink cans.
The father had described President Obama as a socialist online.
The family was investigated in 2014 after the girl was seen eating from a rubbish bin.
Chained to a support beam in the basement by her ankle for as long as a year at a time, the girl said she had not attended school since first grade.
She was made to use a bucket with ammonia as a toilet, and was fed food scraps.
The other children and herself were supposed to be home schooled.
The girl and her two siblings were removed from the house by social services and placed in foster care.
More than a million people people have joined a boycott of Target in recent weeks led by far-right anti-LGBT groups, after the store confirmed that transgender people were able to use their preferred bathroom.
It comes after Target confirmed it “welcomes transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity.”
A number of protesters have taken to disrupting Target stores directly – with one man sparking a lockdown in Illinois, while in another incident a woman waved a Bible while warning customers “the devil will rape your children”.
