Policeman gets called to a dispute in a gay bar… and stays for karaoke
A police officer in Scotland was called to break up a dispute in a gay bar – and he stayed for karaoke.
The unlikely news comes from Glasgow’s oldest gay pub, Waterloo Bar.
Four officers attended the scene at the bar following a minor scuffle, when a drink was thrown and a fight broke out outside.
However, after dealing with the business they had a few minutes to kill, and one of the officers decided to build bridges with the patrons by taking part in karaoke.
After being goaded on stage, he puts in a request for Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’, and slays it.
A patron told the Glasgow Evening Times: “The officer came in a with a few of his colleagues and had spoken to the staff about an earlier incident.
“After he had done his duties the karaoke host got him up to perform. He said his name was John and chose ‘I Will Survive’ to sing.
“He tried to stop after one verse but the crowd were loving it so he carried on. He was really good and had all the moves.”
Incredibly, news of the feat managed to reach Gaynor herself, who shared the video adding “I love this!”
Karaoke host Katie Boyle wrote: “So I managed to get Sergeant John to sing in the Waterloo Bar today after a wee incident.
“It was an accomplishment that I got him up to do it. He was brilliant and just goes to show not all bad can be said about Police Scotland.”
