Uber driver offers services after lesbian couple were threatened by fellow driver
After a lesbian couple were physically threatened by a homophobic Uber driver, another Uber driver has offered his services to them.
Lucy Thomas and her girlfriend were catching an Uber home and discussing an upcoming football game when their driver started calling them “faggots”.
Thomas said the driver – who she called John – became threatening and aggressive when he realised they were in a same-sex relationship.
Throughout the trip, he apparently made several homophobic and racist remarks. In a recording by Thomas, the driver can be heard saying: “When I write my report about two faggots who don’t like being called faggots, what’re they going to say?
“Get out of the car… if you don’t I’ll get out and drag you out.”
The couple have since received messages of support online, with one message from a fellow Uber driver standing out in particular.
“Lucy, I am so shocked to hear what you and your girlfriend went through with your Uber driver,” the message says, adding, “Please know that not all Uber drivers are like this I can assure you.
“It’s so sad in this day and age people can be so narrow minded. As an Uber driver myself, I would be honoured one day to take you and your girlfriend as passengers.”

Thomas has since said that Uber has fired the driver in question, after she reported his behaviour to the police.
Last year, PinkNews exclusively revealed that a London Uber driver had been suspended – after kicking out a gay passenger because of his sexuality.
