Sweetie! Kylie Minogue to sing Ab Fab movie theme tune
The LGBT pop icon is joining this year’s most eagerly-anticipated movie adaptation.
Kylie Minogue has covered the classic theme song for the TV comedy’s first film.
The cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘This Wheel’s on Fire’ is already available to stream right now, while pre-orders for the digital soundtrack have gone on sale.
“As a huge fan of the Ab Fab series and both Jennifer and Joanna, I’m over the moon to be singing the theme song,” Minogue said in a statement.
The Sun also claimed Jennifer Saunders wanted to keep the star’s involvement a secret for as long as possible.
Other artists contributing to the soundtrack include Paloma Faith and La Roux.
They’ll be joined by cast members Julia Sawalha (who plays Saffy) and Jane Horrocks (Bubble) who takes on Big Spender.
Earlier this week, Joanna Lumley revealed that her iconic character Patsy Stone is transgender.
The actress made the revelation about her booze and drug-addled alter ego as she discussed the show’s colourful history – praising the BBC comedy as groundbreaking in its approach to LGBT characters and storylines.
The recent trailer for the eagerly-anticipated movie sees the ageing fashionistas on the run after Eddie accidentally knocks Kate Moss into the Thames.
The hapless PR guru does so while trying to sign up the legendary model to her agency.
After becoming a national hate figure, Eddie – aided by sidekick Patsy – escapes for a new life in the South of France, where they pursue a life of luxury – and cause their usual mayhem.
Moss is just one of countless famous faces set to appear in the upcoming big screen outing, after it was recently announced that a whopping sixty celebrities – including Joan Collins, Dame Edna Everage and Graham Norton – will make cameos.
Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie opens in UK cinemas on July 1.
