Pride in London encourages Londoners to live life with #NoFilter
The overall theme for the campaign for this year’s Pride in London is #NoFilter.
Organisers for this year’s Pride in London say the idea for this year’s campaign – #NoFilter – comes from the fact that Pride is the one day when the LGBT community can truly be themselves.
The campaign’s manifesto film – produced by WCRS – explores what ‘No Filter’ means to members of the LGBT community.
The clip features a range of contributors – including prominent members of the community, such as Sir Ian McKellen, Graham Norton, Stephanie Hirst and previous PinkNews Award winner, Cai Wilshaw – Founder and Director of the LGBT Leaders.
The film will run online on Pride’s social media channels and website, and various TV channels later in the campaign – watch it below.
A digital immersive experience will also allow visitors to hear first-hand the intimate and moving stories of five pre-eminent members of the LGBT community, talking about the first time they felt free to live their life with ‘No Filter’.
Visitors will be able to hear the stories of Sir Ian McKellen, Speech Debelle, David Ames, Sophie Ward and Stephanie Hirst via sound showers installed above the digital poster sites, which are activated when someone stops in front of the poster.
The experience runs at Westfield London until June 27.
“The ‘No Filter’ campaign is the perfect response to a real issue within London and the UK at large,” said Alison Camps, Marketing Director Pride in London.
“Our research shows that those in the LGBT+ community are far more likely than heterosexual people to fear showing their true selves at work, and in public.
“Pride in London is a fabulous celebration of all that we have achieved together, and the fact that we are moving towards a more equal society.”
Wilshaw told PinkNews: “This Pride Season more than ever, the LGBTQ community must stand united, and show that we will make our voices heard.
“I was so proud to have a part to play in Pride’s #nofilter campaign, to send the message that Pride is for all of us – we march together regardless of who we are, or how we live our lives,” he added.
“‘No Filter embraces the diversity of our community, and reminds us to live the spirit of Pride every single day.”
