Special Pride TV channel to be hosted by the Vengaboys
MTV has announced plans to commemorate Pride in London with a brand new music channel.
The Vengabus looks set to stop at Pride this year – after it was announced pop legends the Vengaboys will host a new MTV channel dedicated to the LGBT community.
The channel is set to feature programming including live shows from Little Mix and Years & Years.
“Whoever you are, wherever you are, we want you to hop on the Vengabus and get ready to shake what your mamma gave you in celebration of diversity and love!” the Vengaboys said.
MTV Pride will also feature coming out interviews with Troye Sivan, Courtney Act from RuPaul’s Drag Race and Geordie Shore stars Marnie and Nathan.
Pride in London’s Ian Walters added: “Thanks to this amazing partnership with MTV, we are excited to be part of something never tried before in the UK.
“Our #nofilter campaign is all about living life proud, free and confident, and an entire channel inspired by the LGBT+ community is a wonderful moment of acceptance and celebration.”
Organisers for this year’s Pride in London say the idea for this year’s campaign comes from the fact that Pride is the one day when the LGBT community can truly be themselves.
The campaign’s manifesto film – produced by WCRS – explores what ‘No Filter’ means to members of the LGBT community.
The clip features a range of contributors – including prominent members of the community, such as Sir Ian McKellen, Graham Norton, Stephanie Hirst and previous PinkNews Award winner, Cai Wilshaw – Founder and Director of the LGBT Leaders.
The film will run online on Pride’s social media channels and website, and various TV channels later in the campaign – watch it below.
