YouTube stars declare who they are #ProudToBe in inspiring new video
A number of YouTube personalities have declared just in time for Pride that they are #ProudToBe who they are.
The new video from a collaboration of YouTube creators, sees a number of stars open up and talk about their sexual orientation and gender identity.
It explores being probed by people about how they identify, but shows the stars overcome the invasion to proudly declare their identity.
Some say they are still figuring out how they identify.
Words release with the video remember the victims of the Orlando shooting which left 49 dead and 53 injured earlier this month.
“Now, more than ever, it’s important that we help accept, love, and celebrate one another. In the wake of the tragic events in Orlando, we stand together in support of the LGBTQ community. We stand together with everyone who has the courage to own and share their identity. We stand together to show the power of solidarity, the power of love, the power of pride. To those beautiful and brave voices who continue to make YouTube the vibrant, diverse and empathetic community it is, we are #ProudToBe with you.”
Chris Oflyng, who appears in the video, says: “Being prideful in who I am has never been more special to me. It’s important now more than ever that anyone in, or associated with, the LGBTQ community stand together. I am thankful that YouTube has given me the opportunity to share my story, and provided me with an outlet to express who I really am.”
Hugo Nasck adds: “As a non-binary person I believe that more than ever this is the moment to speak and be heard. I believe I can help showing representativity as a trans non-binary person.”
Back in May, gay couple Hunter Herring and Tyler Matl decided to come out together in the inspirational clip.
In April, YouTube singer Sam Tsui opened up about his sexuality – as he revealed he was about to get married.
Earlier this week, YouTube’s biggest star released a video saying he was evicted from his Brighton home for having “loud gay sex”… even though he is straight.
