Disney’s tribute to the Orlando victims is beautiful
Disney World Orlando’s tribute to to the victims of the Pulse massacre is beautiful.
Thousands of people turned up to Disney World to join in a vigil for the victims of the Orlando massacre.
The event, which was unofficial, drew thousands of people to the front of the Cinderella Castle at midnight to honour the victims.
With candles and glow sticks in hand, the crowd ‘kissed goodnight’ to the victims before the park closed for the night.
When the clock struck 12, the magic kingdom fell silent for 49 seconds as a tribute to the 49 lives that were lost.
The castle then shone red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple to show solidarity with the LGBTQI community.
The vigil is not the first to be held in the theme park. A special tribute was held in the Harry Potter area of Universal Studios for Luis Vielma.
Vielma was a 22 year old who worked on a Harry Potter ride, he was killed in the attack which happened on June 12th.
Friends and families joined to remember Vielma who was described as “one of the bravest and best gryffindors the world has ever known” by a castmate.
J.K Rowling sent a special wreath of flowers to his funeral after she expressed her grief at the loss the victims.
49 people were killed and 53 were injured in an attack on Pulse nightclub by gunman, Omar Mateen.
The theme park joins hundreds of other vigils that have been held across the world to show love and solidarity with the victims.
