Cher forced to defend herself after confusing fans with views on Brexit
The pop icon caused shock and outrage on Twitter after it seemed the star was backing the Leave campaign.
Anyone who follows Cher on Twitter will know that the legendary diva is not renowned for her clarity on the social media platform.
In fact, many of those that do follow the singer, do so because of wacky and wonderful many of her online contributions can often be.
Whether she philosophising, reminiscing or sharing her hatred of Donald Trump, the star never fails entertain her army of virtual fans.
Sadly, a recent musing regarding last week’s Brexit vote – in which the UK opted to leave the EU – nearly changed all that, after Cher tweeted her thoughts following the outcome of the referendum was revealed.
Many fans were quick to attack the singer, convinced she was in fact supporting the decision.
Some accused of misunderstanding the issue, racism and hypocrisy, due to her previous attacks on Trump’s xenophobic policies.
However, it soon became clear that it was her fan’s that had misunderstood the star’s sentiment – which she was only too happy to explain.
Fans had thought she had written that “It’s best decision 4 all UKK ppl,” when actually she had written “praying it’s best decision 4 all UK ppl.”
Cher often uses emojis in place of words, as those familiar with the star’s account will know.
The restrictive word count on the platform, as well as her preferred, colourful style, means the star rarely used a word if she can swap for a smiley face or love heart instead.
Just last month, Cher has launched a fresh attack on Donald Trump – comparing him to Hitler.
Since January, Cher has stepped up her criticism of Trump and last year said she would leave Earth if he became President.
