Arrow’s Stephen Amell campaigns for Colton Haynes’ return to the show
The show’s main star wants to see his sidekick swing back into action.
Arrow’s Stephen Ames has made a plea to get his gay co-star Colton Haynes back onto the show.
Haynes left the show last year, but co-star and close friend Ames wants him to return for season five.
When asked by a fan if they would like to see superhero Nightwing join the cast, Ames said he was happy with his own protege, Roy Harper – or Arsenal – played by Haynes.
“You know, I feel like I’m good with Roy Harper. Let’s get Roy Harper back,” Amell.
Haynes was only a guest star in season 4, briefly popping up for a guest appearance to take down the villainous Calculator.
Haynes opened up about his sexuality in an interview earlier this year, saying that he is now “happier than he’s ever been” – after being questioned on Tumblr about his “secret gay past” back in January.
“I’m so happy for Colton,” Amell said when asked about his co-star’s news.
He said that he too is “excited” for Haynes and is happy that he can finally be himself.
“As long as he is living his best life and he is at his most happy, because that is stuff that I’ve seen him struggle with,” he added.
During his coming o interview, Haynes also opened up about living with “terminal anxiety”.
He explained that he has suffered from anxiety problems his whole life and attributed the condition to his breaks from Teen Wolf and Arrow.
However, Amell says that Haynes would be welcomed back by the Arrow team anytime.
“All he has to do is basically show up and we’ll write him in,” he promised.
