Blue Power Ranger David Yost accuses Bryan Cranston of homophobia
The original Blue Power Ranger has accused Breaking Bad star Bryan Cranston of homophobia.
Out gay actor David Yost, who played the Blue Power Ranger, Billy Cranston in the original series, accused the actor of making an anti-gay comment.
The actor Cranston’s name was the inspiration for the character Billy Cranston as he voiced two of the characters in the original series.
Asked about the name of the character in an interview with IGN, the actor said: “He’s the fey one, that’s the problem.”
A new Power Rangers movie will come out on 24 March.
In a 2010 interview that has resurfaced online, Yost opened up about his reasons for quitting the show in 1996 – and the reasons might ruin your childhood memories.
Speaking at the Anime Festival Orlando 2010, he said he fell out with the show’s production team and creators because of his sexuality.
He said that his co-stars were repeatedly quizzed about what they knew about his sexuality, and he was also the victim of vile homophobic abuse.
Cranston last year said he is a big supporter of gay rights, calling for an end to “silliness” before same-sex marriage was legalised in the US.
