Gay married man among police officers shot in Dallas sniper attack
A gay married man is among police officers shot by a sniper during an attack in Dallas at a protest against police brutality.
Jesus Retana was shot but has now been released from hospital in the attack which left five police officers shot dead.
He as one of seven more officers injured in the shooting.
After being discharged from hospital, Retana went home to recover with his husband Andrew Moss.
The couple helped to push for the extension of health benefits to same-sex couples, after Moss fell ill and left the police force in 2010.
They were married back in 2008 in California.
The shooter, Micah Xavier Johnson, was a lone attacker in the shooting in downtown Dallas.
According to reports he intended to shoot as many police officers as he could, and he was reportedly motivated to take action following the shootings of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota.
