Las Vegas bar staff trained to spot a terrorist attack after Orlando
Bar staff in Las Vegas have undergone training to recognise a terrorist attack, just over a month after Orlando.
Officers from Southern Nevada Counter-Terrorism Centre met employees from some of Sin City’s bars and nightclubs to deliver a presentation.
Mike Brambila, the officer delivering the presentation, said that there was an obligation on all members of the community to report suspicious activity.
“Attackers are known to express strong ideologies in their workplace, place of worship, school and on social media,” Brambila said.
He said that both Orlando and the attacks on San Bernardino were examples of what could happen, but stressed that people should not turn it into a “us v them”.

Officer Brambila also told the staff in attendance that people should be aware of the signs to look out for and not hesitate to contact police.
He added: “There is a misconception that tipsters could be perceived as being ‘snitches’ or hold racist sentiments. Suspicious activity applies to people of all genders, ages and races.”
The bar and club employees were also told about how potential attackers will try to gather information by looking into entrance and exit information or how many security guards are on duty.
Attendees were told that they should call the police any time of the day if they witness suspicious activity and no one should ever feel that they can’t reach out to law enforcement.
