Man left with ‘life threatening’ injuries after assault in Manchester’s gay village

A man has been left with life-threatening injuries after being attacked in Manchester’s gay village.
Police area appealing for information in the attack which took place outside the VOID nightclub on Richmond Street, adjacent to Canal Street in Manchester city centre.
The victim had fallen to the floor during the attack, and despite managing to get up he fell unconscious and went into cardiac arrest.
Following the attack which took place just before 6am this morning, 24 July, the victim remains in hospital in life-threatening condition.
According to police, the attacker was an Asian man in his late 30s to early 40s.
He was wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt, and brown boots.
The police investigation into the attack is ongoing, and officers are yet to find a motive for the attack.
It is believed at this point that it was an unprovoked attack on an innocent man.
A statement on behalf of VOID posted to Facebook, reads: “As you may be aware there has been an incident at the entrance to void on Richmond street. We would like to confirm this was not a customer from kiki/void and the individual was involved in an incident in the car park on Richmond Street.
“He was given medical attention by VOID door staff, it is now being dealt with by GMP.”
Detective Sergeant Phillip Marsh of Greater Manchester Police appealed to anyone with information.
He said: “I urge anyone who saw the assault or has information about who is responsible to come forward and speak to police.”
