Pastor who called for Government to ‘finish the job’ after Pulse shooting to host ‘controversial’ conference
A pastor who called for the Government to “finish the job” after 49 people were gunned down in the Pulse nightclub last month, is attempting to host a conference of “like-minded” people.
Jimenez held a sermon on the day of the Orlando shootings and called homosexuality a sin and said it should be punished with death.
He would not mourn the victims of the shooting because of their sexuality, and called all homosexuals “pedophiles.”
“The tragedy is that more of them didn’t die” Jimenez said, “Florida is a little safer tonight.”
A congregant posted a clip on YouTube of the Pastor preaching hate towards the LGBT community which sparked outrage. The clip has since been removed.
The Verity Baptist Church pastor later spoke to CBS Sacramento, refusing to apologise, saying he wished “they finished the job”.
Jimenez is hosting a conference of sermons by preachers who share his views at the Verity Baptist Church this week
The Red Hot Preaching Conference will take place at the church this week, and will include a number of sermons over a four-day period.
Despite only 80 people saying they would turn up to the conference, Jimenez has told the Sacramento Bee that he expects as many as 350 people to turn up.
The pastor has said he hasn’t planned his sermon yet, but that he will decide after the four other speakers have gone before him. He doesn’t want to repeat their words.
“It will be red hot, I will tell you that,” said Jimenez. “It will be controversial. I’m going to preach the Bible.”
He added: “The fight of our day, I believe, is this homosexual transgender agenda…so, yeah, we’re going to stand against it.”
Nearly a thousand people turned up the the Verity Baptist Church in June to protest Jimenez.
