Miley Cyrus wants to ‘Make America Gay Again’
The singer has leant her voice to a pro-LGBT campaign for a federal equalities act.
Miley Cyrus wants to ‘Make America Gay Again’ – and she wants her fans to help her do it.
The pansexual singer sported a cap and t-shirt with the slogan written across its front to coincide with Pride month in the USA.
The cap was designed by America Apparel, in partnership with LGBT advocacy group Human Rights Campaign (HRC), with proceeds being donated to the HRC’s campaign for a federal equalities act.
Inspired by Presidential hopeful Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ slogan, Cyrus posted a photo of her wearing the cap to her Instagram account on Friday, captioned simply “fuckkk ya”, following a date with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.
The image comes a few weeks after she was spotted wearing a t-shirt with the same wording.
Cyrus – who identifies as pansexual and gender-fluid – has been outspoken in her support of the LGBT community, even getting a tattoo in support equal marriage.
Discussing her own sexuality last year, she said she is “open” to “everything that’s legal”.
“I am literally open to every single thing that is consenting and doesn’t involve an animal and everyone is of age. Everything that’s legal, I’m down with,” Cyrus said.
“Yo, I’m down with any adult — anyone over the age of 18 who is down to love me. I don’t relate to being boy or girl, and I don’t have to have my partner relate to boy or girl.”
The former Disney actress also spoke about using her body as a weapon in order to get attention to speak about real issues.
She said: “If you get your tits out, and they are all looking, then you can use that space to say something and get them to listen.”
The Wrecking Ball star has also launched her own charity – the Happie Hippie Foundation – which is dedicated to empowering homeless and LGBT youth.
