Email leaks reveal what the Democrats REALLY think about North Carolina’s anti-LGBT Governor
Email leaks from the Democratic National Convention have revealed that the party leadership threw some serious shade at North Carolina’s Republican Governor Pat McCrory.
North Carolina has lost a string of big investment ventures over Governor Pat McCrory’s decision to sign the contentious HB 2 – which voided all local ordinances protecting LGBT rights, banned transgender people from using their preferred bathroom, and permits businesses to discriminate against LGBT people on the grounds of religious belief.
McCrory continues to insist the anti-trans rules are “common sense” – but the state has faced a string of lawsuits over the law, which major NC employers including Paypal, HP, and Deutsche Bank have condemned.
Wikileaks released thousands of illegally-hacked emails from the DNC this week, amid allegations that Russian hackers had targeted the party to benefit Republican hopeful Donald Trump.
Some of the emails reveal the full level of shade thrown at McCrory behind closed doors.
The email comes from Pablo Manriquez, the DNC’s director of Hispanic Media, to video research associate Akshai Bhatnaga, after McCrory appeared on Fox News to defend the law.
Manriquez wrote:”If there’s anything else we should add – especially within the realm of video content – about this moronic little bigot of a tarheel governor or the bathrooms they’re using to distract from their epic failings as human beings and party officials, let me know. ”
The chain included a bizarre summary of McCoy’s interview:
CW [Fox anchor Chris Wallace]: NC has a new law to hate on Trans people. We have a really prejudice guy name Pat McCrory here to spin gender identity for the national audiences.
PM [Pat McCrory]: This law has nothing to do with government buildings so don’t worry your safe. “It’s the federal government being a, uh, uh, uh, bully.” (Yes he just said it just like that). Process talk Process Talk Process Talk. I’m going to make a decision by tomorrow at 5pm. There are legal and political considerations to take into account.
CW: Are you willing to rule out disavowing this law?
PM: I’m looking at all my options. This isn’t a NC tho, bruh. This is all of America. DOJ wants every godfearing private sector American — even the universities who get federal funding — to have to show with a boy who thinks that today he’s a girl.
CW: Back in the day, there were bathrooms for blacks and whites. DOJ says this is similar.
PM: Yea, no way. Federal law uses the term “sex” and congress doesn’t define sex as using gender identity or any other terms the federal government uses.
CW: Has there ever been a case of a child getting molested by a transperson staking children out in a public restroom?
PM: Well that’s what the Democrats want Chris. CW: [interrupts PM] Excuse me governor, but what. the. f**k. are you talking about then???
[and then they repeat that same question arc 3 or 4 more times to close the segment]
McCrory is very upset, according to spokesperson Ricky Diaz.
Diaz told WSOCTV: “Our hearts just sink when we see that kind of language being used
“It’s unacceptable. You know, it’s a shame that Democrats are being politically correct to the public and to the media, but then, when they’re behind closed doors, they’re calling Governor McCrory names.”
