Purvis said she was attacked in a video posted to Facebook in which she shows blood on her face and a split lip.

In the video she says: ā€œThey treated me like I did something wrongā€¦ Iā€™ve been attacked. Trans lives matter, too ā€¦ And I donā€™t understand why they attacked me like this.ā€

According to police, Purvis said a customer at the bar, a woman, made comments about her, which caused an argument.

ā€œManagement escorted all parties out of the bar and once outside the victim states she was stabbed in the back and struck in the face with a bottle,ā€ police said in a statement.

The victim was treated in hospital for her injuries, police said.

Lieutenant Gary Mann of Dearborn Police Department on Thursday said: ā€œWeā€™re in the preliminary stages of the investigation right now.ā€

But he added that police were struggling to contact Purvis for an interview.

Those with information are encouraged to contact Dearborn Police Department.
