Marge Simpson did not seem happy with her husband’s plans to vote for Donald Trump.
The Simpsons made a surprise return from its off-season break this week with a skit weighing in on the upcoming US Presidential election.
The clip sees Marge and Homer Simpson weighing up how Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump would respond to a 3am phone call about a crisis.
Under a Clinton Presidency, it sees Bill Clinton answer the phone – before reluctantly passing the call off to his wife.
Things are less smooth under President Trump, with a team of advisers and stylists taking several hours to apply his face and hair, by which time it is too late.
After watching the clip, Homer concludes: “I’m voting for Trump, right?”
But Marge responds: “If that’s your vote, I question whether I can ever be with you again.”
Homer concludes: “And that’s how I became a Democrat.”
It’s not the first time the animated Fox series took a swipe at Trump, with a surrealist skit focused on his hair earlier this year.
Simpsons character Waylon Smithers finally came out as gay in a story earlier this year.
Simpsons writer Rob LaZebnik, who penned the episode, was inspired to write the plot when his own son Johnny came out to him as gay.
He said: “I am a Midwestern guy, so I don’t tend to wear my emotions on my sleeve, but I thought what better way to tell my son I love him than to write a cartoon about it?”
