David Gest’s cause of death revealed following autopsy
Reality star David Gest passed away in a London hotel in April.
David Gest died of a stroke, it has been revealed after a long delay in the release of his autopsy results.
Gest died in April at the age of 62 – just weeks after appearing on Celebrity Big Brother.
US attorney Edward Bearman – who has been dealing with Gest’s estate – told The Sun: “I’ve been told David died from a stroke.”
The executor of Gest’s will, Gary Veazey, also added: “He died of a stroke.”
Police confirmed there would be no investigation into Gest’s “non-suspicious” death as he had died naturally.
Mr Gest was found dead in a hotel room in Canary Wharf.
The star rose to fame through his marriage to Liza Minnelli and his friendship with Michael Jackson – and had appeared on shows including I’m A Celebrity and Celebrity Big Brother.
Gest’s friend Imad Handi spoke out following the “larger than life” star’s death.
Mr Handi said: “It is with great sadness that I can confirm that David Gest has died today.
“David was truly larger than life. He was not just a huge talent and a dear friend but a showbiz icon.
“I know he will be missed by millions of fans around the world, and particularly in Britain, who came to love his charm and blistering one-liners.
“If I may steal the words of one eminent critic, David was a natural star and a genuine celebrity. I will miss him desperately.”
