Caitlyn Jenner confirms ‘I Am Cait’ has been cancelled
Caitlyn Jenner has confirmed her reality series has been dropped due to a lack of viewers.
I Am Cait ā Caitlyn Jennerās reality show focusing on her transition and issues facing the trans community ā has been axed.
The news comes after the showās second season saw a sharp ratings drop, failing to meet channel E!ās expectations.
Following the slump, the show ā which features Jenner, her famous family and a host of leading trans activists ā will not be renewed for a third season, which the star confirmed online.
āAfter 2 amazing seasons of I Am Cait, itās time for the next adventure,ā Jenner tweeted.
āThank you E! & thank you to the best girlfriends I could ask for!ā
āThere just werenāt enough viewers,ā a production an insider recently told Radar.
āThe show canāt compete with other programming.ā
āCaitlyn just wasnāt relatable,ā the source added. āTrans viewers did not see her as one of them.ā
Jenner recently refused to āgive upā on the Republican Party after the party adopted a new platform that is actively hostile to LGBT people.
The former Olympian has been an outspoken Republican since before her transition and still supports the party despite GOP lawmakers pushing anti-trans laws in dozens of states.
Jenner originally supported Texas Sen. Ted Cruz for the Republican nomination before he dropped out of the race, but is yet to back current nominee Donald Trump.
In a recent interview, she defended her political stance, saying she wants to help the GOP engage with and help the LGBT community.
āNow, the Republican Party obviously is ā they are not, have not, been as good when it comes to LBGT issues and social issues,ā Jenner said.
āAnd so I have kind of positioned myself with the Republican Party, of trying to help these people kind of understand what the issues are for the LBGT community.
āAnd obviously, in my case, the āTā portion.ā
