NOM: Re-ban same-sex marriage because gays are more likely to beat their partners
An anti-gay marriage group is calling for a new ban on same-sex weddings because gay people are more likely to be abusive to their partners.
Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage made the claim in an email to supporters.
He cited a ‘study‘ conducted by a notoriously anti-trans doctor on LGBT issues, using data from a number of sources .
Summarising the findings, it states: “Non-heterosexual and transgender people have higher rates of mental health problems (anxiety, depression, suicide), as well as behavioral and social problems (substance abuse, intimate partner violence), than the general population.
“Discrimination alone does not account for the entire disparity.”
Brown insists that the study would help to “expose the lies of the media and LGBT activists” amid the battle for same-sex marriage, which he claims “contradict not only common sense but also the best scientific knowledge”.
His group continues to call for the Supreme Court verdict in Obergefell v. Hodges, which secured equal marriage in all 50 states, to be overturned – voiding thousands of existing same-sex marriages.
Brown recently came up with a fantastic excuse for a poor turnout at one of his anti-gay marriage rallies.
After just a handful of diehard activists turned out for his big ‘March for Marriage’, he insisted they were at home ‘grieving’ for marriage.
He said: “We expected that the crowd would be smaller than past marches because people are still grieving from the US Supreme Court’s illegitimate decision redefining marriage.
“But continuing the March for Marriage gives supporters of marriage an important event to rally around and come to realize that they are not alone in supporting marriage as the union of one man and one woman.”
