Cher: ‘My people won’t believe him for a minute’
Cher has blasted Donald Trump as the “most disingenuous” man she has ever seen, as she says her “people will never vote for him”.
Speaking on ‘The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell’ on Tuesday night, the pop sensation initially laughed when she was first played a clip of the Republican nominee saying he will protect LGBTQ people.
“Oh come on,” she said, as she stopped laughing.
“He says those letters like a child that is just learning the alphabet. Then pokes his finger in the air for ‘Q’.
“He is the most disingenuous man I’ve ever seen and I want to tell you…my people will not believe him for a minute.”
The 70-year-old star, who was recently touring some of America’s gay hot-spots to campaign for Hillary Clinton, added that she had read he was at a seven-hour meeting with a number of anti-gay conservative lobbyists and said, “how does he go from that meeting to telling my people he will protect them?
“One of the reasons I’ve gone out to them…I fear for those people and not just because of my son, I fear what they will do to those people, my people.”
Cher has been vocal in her opposition to Donald Trump and has consistently called on Americans to boycott his campaign and vote for the Democratic nominee, Mrs Clinton.
Often taking to Twitter in order to express her thoughts about the GOP candidate, she has compared him to Hitler and questioned if he even wanted the job.
She has also attacked British Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, calling him a “f*cking tosser”.
