God would vote for Donald Trump, anti-LGBT adviser Michele Bachmann insists
Donald Trump’s policy adviser Michele Bachmann has claimed he was chosen by God to be President.
Former Tea Party congresswoman Michele Bachmann, who is advising Donald Trump on policy, previously earned a reputation as America’s most extreme homophobic politician.
Speaking to Christian Broadcasting Network, she said: “This is one thing I know from the Book of Daniel: the bottom line of the Book of Daniel is this: it teaches us that the most high God lifts up who He will and takes down who he will.
“And I look at this primary race that the republicans had, seventeen great candidates. I actually supported Ted Cruz.
“I thought he was fabulous but I also see that at the end of the day God raised up, I believe Donald Trump who was going to be the nominee in this election. I don’t think God sits things out. He’s a sovereign God.
“Donald Trump became our nominee. I think it’s very likely that in the day that we live in, that Donald Trump is the only individual who could win in a General Election of the seventeen who ran.
“Maybe I’m wrong, I don’t know but I do know that the Bible is true and that Daniel teaches the most high God which is one of God’s names is the one who lifts up who he will and takes down who
“He will and so that’s why my prayers and my actions and my work on a daily basis is to make sure that Donald Trump becomes, ‘President Trump’ the first Tuesday of November this 2016.”
She added: “If you look at Barack Obama by contrast, if you look at Hillary Clinton by contrast tell me where the strong people of orthodox Christian faith or orthodox Jewish faith who believe that the Bible is true, who believe that God is who He says who He is … I don’t know of any. Maybe [Clinton] has some, but I don’t know of any.”
Ms Bachmann claimed in 2014: “I think [gays] want to abolish age of consent laws, which means we will do away with statutory rape laws so that adults would be able to freely prey on little children sexually. That’s the deviance that we’re seeing embraced in our culture today.”
A 2011 investigation found a religious counselling centre owned by Ms Bachmann attempts gay ‘cure’ therapy and aims to repress “homosexual urges”. Her husband, Marcus Bachmann, ran the service.
She has also claimed that God would destroy America because of the “sin-sick” culture of same-sex marriage.
