This wedding venue doesn’t want to marry gays so much they advertised it

The owners of a wedding venue in Texas feel so strongly about not marrying gay couples that they have advertised the fact.

Bob and Genie Flournoy of East Texas, are being celebrated by anti-gay bigots for advertising the fact that they wonā€™t marry gay couples or transgender people.

But they defended the fact by saying that at at least they donā€™t turn away gay people altogether.

Texas

ā€œOur Christian faith demands that we not participate in same-sex, transgender or any other perversion of marriage,ā€ reads the advert they placed in a local Christian magazine.

ā€œIf you disagree with our stance on marriage, please respect our Christian belief and have your wedding elsewhere.ā€

The couple own Texas Forest Country Retreat, which was inherited from Mr Flournoyā€™s father.

The bed and breakfast wedding venue is in Manning, Texas, and advertises itself as offering ā€œa ministry to provide rest, relaxation, and renewal to weary folks and a great place for a man and a woman to begin a wonderful life together.

ā€œI love Manning and you will too. I am anxious to share it with all who will come and experience this place that I call home.ā€

Despite reading ā€œall who will comeā€, the venue excludes same-sex couples and trans people who wish to get married there.

Mr Flournoy recently posted about his strong opposition to last summerā€™s ruling in favour of same-sex marriage by the US Supreme Court.

ā€œThe recent and ungodly Obergefeld decision out of the Supreme Court permits other than one man and one woman to marry. This, in my opinion, is the single most destructive decision of good order in America that has ever been rendered. It adversely affects all of society and elevates man as supreme ruler of the universe. It is contrary to the explicit admonitions of God and as a result, we can no longer expect the blessings of God upon this Nation.ā€

ā€œWe donā€™t turn away gays at the property, we just donā€™t host same-sex marriage ceremonies,ā€ a spokesperson for the venue told LGBTQ Nation.

They added: ā€œWe book traditional heterosexual weddings. Pretty simple.ā€
