Was Ted Cruz left speechless when he bumped into Caitlyn Jenner?
Reality TV star Caitlyn Jenner has claimed Texas Senator Ted Cruz became flustered when the pair met this week.
The former Olympian was in the US Capital to lobby Republican members of Congress on behalf of the Unity Fund, an LGBT organisation funded by GOP donors.
However, Jenner said that when she came across the former US presidential hopeful who spent months attacking her in a hallway, he didn’t know what to say.
She described the encounter as brief, asking for a few minutes of his time before he was rushed away by staffers who said he was too busy.
An aide to the Texan Senator told LGBTQ nation he was simply running late to a hearing.
“This account of events is not true. Senator Cruz and Caitlyn Jenner had a brief, but cordial conversation after running into each other in the hallway. There was no request for a meeting, and the Senator proceeded to his next appointment,” he said.
Throughout his campaign for the Republican nomination, Cruz continually berated Jenner and trans people.
He said: “Grown adult men, strangers, should not be alone in a bathroom with little girls.”
And added that it was just “basic common sense”.
During the campaign, Jenner posted a video online showing her use the restroom at one of Donald Trump’s buildings and said, ” Thank you Donald. I really appreciate it. And, by the way, Ted, nobody got molested.”
Donald Trump has now changed his views on trans rights.
Earlier this week, PinkNews reported that a number of Republican lawmakers had met with Jenner but refused to disclose their identity.
