Thousands of people have rallied together for Brisbane Pride (PHOTOS)
Thousands of people paraded through Brisbane today celebrating all things LGBT.
It is thought over 2000 people turned up in Fortitude Valley today to celebrate Pride.
Many believe that the number of people who turned out for the march on Saturday were boosted because of the current debate over marriage equality.
Current Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has been urged to ditch the same-sex plebiscite that is causing debate across the country.
Turnbull, who is promising the plebiscite if he is re-elected, is being opposed by not only other parties, but also his own government. If the plebiscite goes through then $15 million dollars of public money will be provided to campaigns.
Yes, that means $7.5 million of funding will be given to to anti-LGBT activists to deter the public from voting for equal marriage.
The plebiscite, which is set to cost the Australian public millions of dollars, has been a talking point for many LGBT australians. However, it hasn’t stopped politicians taking to the streets of Brisbane today.
Queensland police officers also joined in the parade in uniform for the second year in a row.
It’s not just politicians and police though. People from all over poured out to celebrate.
And some of them even brought their dogs!
Happy Pride, Brisbane!
