Lil Wayne officiated a same-sex wedding in jail
Lil Wayne has revealed that he performed a gay wedding while in jail.
The rapper spent a year in prison in New York’s notorious Rikers Island, after being charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
The musician, real name Dwayne Michael Carter Jr, opened up about his experiences in a new memoir titled Gone Til’ November, which is set to be released next month.
According to Billboard, an extract of the book reveals that he officiated a ceremonial mock-gay wedding while behind bars.
He recalled: “I got the Bible and I’m like, we gathered here today. We even had a reception, which everybody brought something for the couple.”
Lil Wayne gifted cookies to the pair, while they toasted with Gatorade. He noted: “Gatorade is liquid gold in this bitch.”
He added: “The shit was too funny! Imagine seeing grown-ass men in jail hanging tissue for wedding decorations. AND one of them is Lil Wayne. Crazy.”
The rapper has spoken about his support for gay rights in the past.
After NBA star Jason Collins Came out, the rap star commended him saying that his coming out would pave the way for other people to come out as gay.
He said: “What it does for sports? It’s opening a lot of doors and it’s showing that it’s a fair world out there.
“Just to see how many people came to his support and things like that, that’s a pretty fair world out there. Be you.”
