Utah politician mocks gay teen suicide victim for ‘following Gospel of the Devil’
A political candidate in Utah is under fire for comments about a teen who died by suicide.
19-year-old college student Braxton Taylor took his own life earlier this week.
However, when a local woman mourned his death on Facebook, others were astounded to see a local politician’s unsympathetic reply.
Jason Christensen is standing for the Utah State Senate as a conservative candidate for the fringe Independent American Party.
He replied to her post: “Yes this is sad, and hopefully God will have mercy on both sins that this boy committed. The sins of homosexuality and the sins of murder.”
The woman fired back: “Jason Christensen get off my thread now. Not able to block you now but will asap. How dare you! Get the hell off!”
But he insisted: “Read the scriptures, stop denying the scriptures.
“I do feel bad for him and his sins. But one must recognize what’s sins and what is not sin. One must live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and not the Gospel of the Devil.”
When gay blog Towleroad reported on the comments, Christensen continued to troll.
He shared the article, writing: “That’s me!
“Don’t you love how intolerant the left actually is?”
The comments have gone viral on Reddit, with many venting their fury at Christensen.
