Man wanted in connection with alleged anti-gay attack in New York West Village
Police in New York City are searching for a man caught on CCTV allegedly shouting homophobic slurs in the face of another man.
The alleged incident took place over the weekend in the West Village.
The assailant, as well as shouting the anti-gay slurs at the man on West 4th Street, is accused of pushing the 32-year-old victim multiple times until he hit his head on the window frame of the Las Ramblas tapas bar, reports Gothamist.
The NYPD is investigating the crime as a possible hate incident.
It took place just after 5.30pm on 2 October.
CCTV images have been released by police in connection with the incident. According to the Gothamist, police have not named which anti-gay slurs were used.
The assailant is believed to be about 6’0″ tall and to weigh about 240 pounds.
The victim was later taken to the Beth Israel Hospital before being released after receiving treatment for a head laceration.
An NYPD spokesperson told the Gothamist: “It required a staple, so it was quite a big laceration,”
