This politician had the best response to troll who questioned his sexuality
A Democratic Senator has posted the perfect response to a troll who questioned his sexuality.
Cory Booker, a Democratic Senator for New Jersey, took to Twitter earlier to celebrate National Coming Out Day.
Sharing a Dr Seuss poem, he wrote: “Happy National Coming Out Day! #LoveIsLove”.
However, one Twitter troll took the pro-LGBT message as ‘proof’ that Booker is secretly gay.
They wrote: “Is @CoryBooker a closet Homosexual HAS NO WIFE, NO GIRLFRIEND, Very very Pro LGBT.”
The user ran a poll asking if Booker “has Sugar in his tank” or “just doesnt like women”.
Seeing the poll, the Senator penned a brilliant reply.
He wrote: “Whatever my sexual orientation, know I love you. I hope u are OK with that. May we both elevate more than denigrate.”
Mr Booker, whose personal life is none of anyone else’s damn business, is a long-time passionate ally of LGBT rights and same-sex marriage.
In 2013, he explained that he “loves” the fact that people aren’t sure about his sexuality.
He told the Washington Post: “People who think I’m gay, some part of me thinks it’s wonderful. Because I want to challenge people on their homophobia.
“I love seeing on Twitter when someone says I’m gay, and I say, ‘So what does it matter if I am? So be it. I hope you are not voting for me because you are making the presumption that I’m straight’.”
Mr Booker conducted New Jersey’s first same-sex marriage ceremonies while Mayor of Newark.
He told the couples: “Tonight we have crossed a barrier. While you all have fallen into love, the truth is the state of New Jersey has risen to love.”
